Miami Dolphins linebacker Jelani Jenkins tallied 12 tackles yesterday in a losing cause against the toilet-based Jacksonville Jaguars, but Dan Le Batard isn’t buying him as a good player, not with Ndamukong Suh clogging the offensive line and allowing for the Dolphins linebackers to run around and make plays.
“What I’m telling you is he’s not as good as what he looked like yesterday,” Le Batard said Monday on 790 The Ticket. “That’s at least in part because two guys are always being sent at Suh.”
Producer Mike Ryan noted how there’s always that generic Dolphins linebacker wearing number 53.
“The Dolphins — my entire life — they’ve always had that useless No. 53 linebacker that does nothing,” Mike Ryan said. “Jelani Jenkins, Morlon Greenwood. Koa Misi. Philip Wheeler. Like it’s crazy.”
Their memory of the numbers was way off (Misi wears 55 and Greenwood and Wheeler wore 52), but point is they think the Dolphins have always had that guy playing linebacker.
“Channing Crowder, too,” Le Batard said of the current WQAM host and former Dolphins linebacker who actually wore No. 52. “I’m serious though, these guys who just run around out there and you look at their Wikipedia page after they’ve retired and it’s like one forced fumble. Like that’s to be the sentence: Channing Crowder is an American football player who went to the University of Florida who in his Dolphins career had one recovered fumble.
“Channing Crowder was Morlon Greenwood 2.0 and now Koa Misi is that.”
Low blow, Dan.
