Butch Davis and Mario Cristobal have consistently been two of the hottest names with UM ties linked to the Miami Hurricanes‘ coaching job. But a former coach for the Canes and Miami Dolphins could see a scenario where Cristobal comes aboard along with fellow former Canes assistant Greg Schiano, who last coached the Bucs in 2013.
“Absolutely,” Dave Wannstedt said on the Joe Rose Show on WQAM Monday. “I don’t know if Greg would go with Mario. I don’t know this but I would think with their relationship, there might be a chance that Mario might come with Greg. If there was a gonna be a combination that would work it’d be that.”
The two coached together at both Miami and Rutgers.
It certainly wouldn’t be the sexiest of scenarios with big names like Charlie Strong and Tom Herman floating out there but from talking to fans and media members alike there is not going to be a unanimous vote of approval whoever the next coach may be.
