Jacob Eason, Rivals’ No. 1 quarterback recruit in the country, could be headed to the Miami Hurricanes.
“I think it’s entirely possible,” Fox Sports’ Bruce Feldman said on Hochman, Crowder, and Krantz on 560 WQAM Thursday. “I mean Jacob Eason was a kid I saw this summer at the Elite 11. He is a kid from Washington state. He is 6-5, and he’s probably 230 now. He’s got a big arm. For people wondering, a comparison, a lot of people think, hey this guy reminds folks of Drew Bledsoe. That would be a good fit for Miami and if you think hey we’ve got Brad Kaaya for two more years, he would come in and Eason would probably redshirt his first year and probably be the backup in Year 2 because he would believe in Mark Richt.
“If Jacob Eason comes down to visit Miami that’s a big deal because that’s a five star. A lot of people think he’s the best quarterback recruit in the country and that will get the attention of other top recruits.”

Obviously it wouldn’t be a bad thing if a consensus blue-chip recruit chooses the Canes, especially a quarterback to carry the torch post-Kaaya, but keep in mind recruiting continues to be a crapshoot. Sure things don’t exist. Al Golden pumped out solid recruiting classes and look where that got him.
Recruiting stars are meaningless. It’s purely for media hype and gets tossed out the window immediately upon stepping foot on campus. The most important thing a coach can do at the college level is develop talent.
That said, the Richt Era appears to be off to a sizzling start.
Eason’s highlight tape is below.
