With Kevin Durant headed to Free Agency this summer, there’s been plenty of speculation over where one of the most dynamic wings in the NBA could land.

The Miami Heat has not been one of the more talked about options, but ESPN’s Dan Le Batard says the team doesn’t think it’s as farfetched as many would assume.

“A texter writes in Kevin Durant is a pipe dream and you can believe that. What I’m telling you is the Heat doesn’t believe that,” Le Batard said on his radio show this morning. “And so you can believe that and that may indeed be so but everyone said that was the case for getting LeBron as well and the Heat did not believe that was a pipe dream. They have done everything to get to 2016 with the room to get Kevin Durant because they want in the Kevin Durant sweepstakes.”

Like many teams across the league the Heat will be oozing with cap space. However, they will likely retain many of their own free agents, a group that includes Dwyane Wade, Hassan Whiteside, Joe Johnson, and Luol Deng.

Despite Whiteside’s unbelievable development of late, if it were to come down to the enigmatic seven-footer or Durant, Pat Riley would choose Durant every single time.

Riley is a dreamer, eyeing the moonshot whenever possible. Never count him out in any blockbuster transaction.
