Stephen A. Smith rattled some heads last week when he reported LeBron James could return to the Miami Heat if the Cleveland Cavaliers win — yes, win — the title this year, even going as far as saying, “I’m hearing about a return to Miami if this man wins.”
“Does Pat Riley then have to root for LeBron to win in the finals on the off chance that he becomes the free agent whale that Riley was talking about?” Le Batard asks. “Everything the Heat are trying to do this offseason is Whiteside and a whale. Both. The reason Riley is saying Whiteside’s the priority is because he believes Whiteside lures the whale.”
While Smith indeed has been accurate in the past in regards to LeBron — he was the first to report James to Miami in 2010 — it would be beyond shocking if LeBron not only chose to return to Miami but did so immediately after bringing the city of Cleveland its first pro championship in a major sports league since 1964.
Then again, nobody thought James was seriously considering leaving Miami two years ago. The LeDrama continues.
