Welcome to the Miami Hurricanes, Travis Homer.
Besides adjusting to life as a college running back at a major university in a primetime city, the freshman also has to deal with a rather odd quote by his position coach, as told to the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson.
Asked about Homer, running backs coach Thomas Brown said: “The best guy is going to play. He’s done a really good job of listening to the details and applying them in a practice setting. He’s a very intelligent football player. Little bit of a weird dude, but very intelligent. … The biggest aspect is going to be pass protection.”
“Little bit of a weird dude?” What a strange thing to tell a reporter. Also a strange detail for the Herald to include.
Weird in what way? Does he drink milk instead of gatorade during practice?
Anyways, the “weird dude” has some wiggle.
